Anil Kumble, the winning skipper

Kevin Pietersen smashed a half-century to power Bangalore to a comfortable five-wicket away win over Jaipur in the IPL in Jaipur.
Bangalore's bowlers wrested the initiative early on and found regular success thereafter as Jaipur were restricted to a paltry 130 for six.
Pietersen then clobbered 62 off 29 deliveries as Bangalore overhauled the target with 26 deliveries to spare and ensured they stayed on track for a spot in the semi-finals, while all but ending Jaipur's hopes of progressing.
Jaipur won the toss but suffered blows at the top of the order, stuttered through the middle-overs and were rescued by an unbroken half-century partnership between Adam Voges (28 not out) and Abhishek Raut (32no).
Bangalore chased down the Jaipur total of 130 easily. They lost a few wickets in the process but they always looked to winning this one thanks to a brilliant half-century by Kevin Pietersen. Dew played a crucial role in deterring Jaipur's attempts to put on speed-breakers as none of the bowlers could put his hand up to give a fight in defending an easily attainable target. This win takes Bangalore to number 2 in the points table with 14 points.
They need to win their next match against Mumbai too, to confirm their semi-finals spot. Even if they lose to Mumbai, the margin should be very less to keep them in contention for the top-four. Jaipur stay on the 5th place. They not only have to win their last match against Kolkata but win it with a big margin to keep themselves in contention for the semis.
The news from the presentaion is that Kevin Pietersen won the awards for the maximum number of sixes and for the best catch of the match.
Shane Warne, the losing skipper, said that their failed start with the bat cost them the match. He says that a miracle huge-margin win against Kolkata in their next match might see them into the semis.
Anil Kumble, the winning skipper, said Pankaj bowled really well and Pietersen batted exceptionally and that they corrected their mistakes from the last match.
Kevin Pietersen is the Man-of-the-Match. He said that they bowled to their plans and it worked well for them. He added that he liked to bat at number 3.

Chennai beat Mumbai by 24 runs

Chennai ended Mumbai's winning run with a 24-run victory in the IPL at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Chennai decided to bat first, but a meandering effort only produced a total of 165 for four, thanks to contributions from Matthew Hayden (35), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (31) and Subramaniam Badrinath (30).

Convincing win for Chennai in the end as they beat Mumbai by 24 runs in this all important contest. The victory means Chennai enter into the top half of the points table whereas Mumbai still hold on to their top position with 7 wins out of 9 games.
It was a steady beginning by Mumbai towards their 166-run target as the openers added 46 runs before Dhawan (16) departed. Tendulkar (45) did end as the top scorer for the side before getting out towards the end. Mumbai skipper looked ill right from the start and had retired midway before walking back towards the end with his side in a complete mess.
The moment he left the crease retiring ill, it triggered a collapse and the Mumbai middle-order was left tottering against a neat Chennai attack. Harbhajan (33) did make some effort towards the end but it was quite a big ask from him as Chennai strengthened their hold over the proceedings.
In the end, Mumbai were reduced to 141/9 in their 20 overs. Ashwin (2/22) and Thushara (2/16) bowled really well in the middle overs while Raina, Jakati and Tyagi were also impressive with their bowling effort

Chennai Need to win this match for alive their hope to reach in Semi- final

Jaipur win by waffer-thin margin of 2 runs

Jaipur stayed in contention for a semi-final berth in the IPL with a thrilling two-run victory over Hyderabad at Nagpur.
Jaipur opted to bat first but apart from Shane Watson's solid 58 and a 36 from Faiz Fazal there was little contribution of note in Jaipur's total of 159 all out.
Jaipur, however, have never lost a match defending a total in excess of 150 and Shane Warne kept that record intact with a four-wicket haul as Hyderabad fell just short despite a heroic 73 from Rohit Sharma.

Man of the Match- Shane Warne

Mohali bottom of the table

Kevin Pietersen scored a commanding half-century to help Bangalore snatch a six-wicket victory over Mohali in their IPL clash.

Bangalore win by 6 wickets with 5 balls to spare. Mohali choke once again and nothing seems to be goind their way. Mohali looked to be in control of the match till the sixteenth over as the Bangalore batsmen seemed to be dealing in singles and doubles, but in came Robin Uthappa and a brisk knock of 22 off just 8 balls, turned the game in Bangalore's favour.
A good contribution from Kevin Pietersen, who played the sheet anchor role and was unbeaten on 66 off 44 balls. He was supported well by Virat Kohli who played a gritty knock of 42 runs off 26 balls and together they put on a 76 run partnership.
Mohali made a mess of that defence and a poor effort in the field, with a number of dropped catches and misfields, just did not help their cause. The bowling for Mohali was very ordinary and the campaign seems to be over for Mohali with that defeat.
They are at the bottom of the table and with the win tonight Bangalore move to number two in the table.
