What a Start By Kolkata Knight Riders In IPL 2010

Kolkata complete a comprehensive victory over Bangalore beating them by 7 wickets It's a fantastic start to their campaign this season as they complete two wins out of two, maintaining their top position in the table.

Last season runners-up, Bangalore were completely outplayed in all the departments of the game. Their set target of 136 was chased down by Kolkata in 19.2 overs without much hiccups. Tiwary (50) and Hodge (50) smashed half-centuries at the top, providing their side a flying start with their 101-run stand.

Ganguly (23) played a handy knock then and almost won the game for his side before departing towards the end. Shah (2*) and Pujara (5*) sealed the victory finally in the last over. van der Merwe (2/27) and Kumar (1/16) bowled really well for Bangalore but unfortunately did not have enough runs on the board to defend.

Sri Lankan Angelo Mathews took four wickets, giving away just 19 runs while left-arm spinner Murali Kartik took two for 22. Jacques Kallis, opening the batting for Royal Challengers, made an unbeaten 65 off 52 balls with seven fours and a six . Rahul Dravid (21) and Robin Uthappa (20) gave Kallis company for some time but both gave their wickets to Mathews.

Manoj Tiwary is awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings.

Gilchrist completing 1,000 runs in IPL- Hyderabad wins

Hyderabad get their first win as they beat Chennai by a comfortable margin of 31 runs.

That target of 191 turned out quite big for Chennai as they were reduced to 159/9 in their 20 overs. They lost quite a few wickets early in their run chase which did not allow them to accelerate in the middle overs.

Kemp (22) and Dhoni (42) added a few runs in the middle overs but departed at a crucial time. Morkel (42*) got going towards the end and hit some brilliant shots but most of his runs came when his side had already lost the game.

Vaas (3/21) was the pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad and received some good support from Ojha (2/28) and Symonds (2/29). Super Kings were at the receiving end with Gilchrist (38), followed by Gibbs (45) and Symonds (50) setting the pace with some big-hitting. Consequently, the runs came in a torrent and despite the back-to-back loss of Gilchrist and VVS Laxman in the same over, the Chargers still had the momentum.
